I am a wife of a man who was arrested and convicted for CSAM. I was left devastated and with severe PTSD I made things worse. I didn't know where to turn. Any standard counsellor I went to assumed the worst. They made my anxiety sky-rocket. When I finally found others like me 3 years later, I learned there was a whole community of us wanting change. To be recognised as secondary victims. Us and our children suffered terribly, yet we were persecuted even though we were innocent. I spoke with mothers and sisters of people who had offended. Where was the recognition of our victim/survivor status?
In 2020 we set up theknock (dot) club Please come and take a look at the 'Lived-Experience' section; Help section for families and offenders too including online anonymous CBT. We have also collated a plethora of research under the 'Research' section.
It is a website for us families. Yes we are based in the UK but a lot of our traffic comes from Americans too. We are all in the same boat world-wide.
Recently, we designed a leaflet for families. Ideally it is to be given at the point of arrest or 'the knock' as we call it. I am attaching the leaflet. You can save it on your phone.
