My husband abused my granddaughter durin the past 1-2 years on few occasions. He has been arrested on released with some restrictions but not many. He cant see the kids or travel and must check in every week. He is 76 and this is a new "thing" with him as far as I know. Has anyone else heard of this starting at such an advanced age? I HATE what he did but it is so hard to seperate agter 47 years. I have just heard new more difficult news about the abuse. His first hearing is not until Jan and then after that probably a plea deal with jail time. I am not a weak individual but how to move and without his support is frightening. When everying on in out 55+ neighborhoos find out, I will have some support but mostly pity. Do I move away from the area I have lived in for 30+ years so I can keep this private. I knowI did nothing wrong .. Thanks for any insight.

I'm sorry this must be so hard. Honestly, this has probably developed slowly over years, with him making justification for his actions along the way. I'm so sorry for what this has done to you and your family, it's a very lonely place to be.

Have you heard of S-ANON. this is a support group for partners/family members of Sex Addicts and there are certain focus groups that are specific to those sex addicts that have been involved in criminal behaviour (i.e. child pornography, voyeurism etc). I have found these groups incredibly helpful and they are on zoom so you can attend from anywhere, there are meetings all over the world and at various times of the day. I belong to two groups - Wednesday evening (7pm EST) and Saturday morning (10:00 EST) these groups focus on sexual offences and it is a great support system for spouses/partners/parents/family etc that have affected by another persons sexual behaviours. I think they have saved my life. I'm putting the contact information for the world service organization here if anyone is interested.

Oh I would love to actually talk to you. My story is similar and really wasn't something that was "growing" all along.
