Sex Offenders Wife Community Group
A place where wives, ex-wives, and girlfriends of sex offenders can share with each other.
hey all I’m new here. I just needed to find somewhere to vent to people that understand. I’ve been with my husband for almost 10 years. I’ve known about his offense since day 1. I knew life with him wouldn’t be the easiest but I connected with him better than any other man before him. After being together for 10 months I got pregnant due to birth control malfunction. This was my first time having to deal with probation other than a quick introduction to his surveillance officer when we first got together. His probation officer and surveillance officer came to our apartment after we told them that I was pregnant. I was berated and basically called dumb and that I should have been more responsible in regards to bc. They then told me what to expect when the child came. He would not be able to help me at all with the child and that I would be lucky if he even got to stay in the house with us. So yeah I ended up having a break down and going into a serious depression. Luckily I was able to have a one on one session with one of his counselors shortly thereafter and she talked me through things more gently. We ended up having a daughter and yeah I pretty much had to do everything but that was ok. We were happy and probation let him stay in the house. Two years later he got moved to maintenance or as it’s now called in AZ contiuation probation and therapy. We no longer had to deal with surveillance officers and he only had to check in with his probation officer twice a year. Then end was in sight. We were thinking that by the time our daughter started school he could potentially be off of probation. (He is on lifetime probation) Every time we brought the subject up to the probation officer she said it wasn’t the right time and we just need to keep doing what we were doing. Then in 2017 he failed a polygraph for the first time and was pulled from the home. His probation officer called me and told me he failed in regards to sexual contact with our daughter. At first I was shocked. I could believe this happened but then after calming down I realized that there was never any opportunity for this to happen. He has never been alone with her. We have very strong safe guards in place for protection. I even asked her if there was any time daddy may have come into her room without me and she denied this. After my husband calmed down and I got to talk to him he also denied that anything happened. He said he was really anxious about this poly. He was testing we a new lady and many things she did before hand put him on edge. Like she followed him to the bathroom and stood outside, she was talking to him while he was trying to concentrate on filling out his paperwork and while doing the poly she was constantly clicking her pen and moving stuff around. We tried to convey this to probation but of course it’s all excuses. Anyways he passed his retake poly two weeks later. Probation still wouldn’t let him come home. He was put back into regular probation and moved to a new probation officer. After another 3 months he was finally allowed to have phone contact with our daughter. He then had to take specific issue poly and passed. Still wasn’t allowed to come home. He got moved to another probation officer who wanted another specific issue polygraph which he again passed but still was not allowed home. Every time we had a staffing to ask what we need to do for home to come home they just kept telling us to do what we are doing. Which of course is nothing. He was finally allowed to have contact we her outside of our home one day a week for a few hours. Then in November he got moved to another probation officer. This time it was a guy he had before when we first got together. After telling him everything that we had been going through he allowed my husband to come home on the weekends and finally after the holidays and yet another polygraph he was allowed back home. Fast forward a year. We have had 2 more probation officers and no more issues on polygraphs. He graduated from treatment and probation was talking about putting him back onto maintence probation. The end is in sight again. Beginning of March he gets his yearly poly request in the mail. It’s with the same lady who failed him before. He said starts freaking out because every other offender who he has talked to has always failed their first poly with her then passed their retake. He begs his probation office to request a transfer to a different poly person. They refuse saying they don’t have any control (which is total bs because we have had them do it before). So for the past month he has been a nervous wreck. He took his test and was failed. He given three test that time and failed a question about pornagraphy one out of the three tests. Probation pulled him from the house. I called his probation officer to try and get more information because I thought that didn’t sound right. I know of other sex offenders who fail in regards to porn and they didn’t get removed from the house. The probation office and surveillance office were extremely rude and curt with me. Every time I tried to explain to them about the safe guards we have I was accused of making excuses and trying to put the blame somewhere else. That I should have been more diligent and contacted them with any concerns I was having before this issue arose. I never had any concerns because of what we have in place. He has no access to the house computer and I have put parental blocks on his phone that he doesn’t know the password too. Yeah I know he could have gotten mags or whatever but honestly don’t believe this is an actual issue because he passed the same question on the other two tests. So now he has his retest at the end of the month. Probation assured me that as long as he passes he will be let back into the home but that’s what I was told before. Meanwhile I find myself having to lie to my daughter about why he daddy isn’t coming home. We do plan on telling her about his past When she is older but not at age 8. Thanks for taking the time to read this and letting me vent.
I don't know if I can offer you any practical advice though. You are so strong to go through all this and you are a very protective mother. Your story highlights how unreliable polys are. Nerves do play a big part and they need to realise this and trust your story. As a protective abs caring mother, he didn't have the opportunity. At least, you have your peace of mind that way. Thank God, you were so protective otherwise they could have completely destroyed your family.
I hope your situation resolves soon for you.
Prayers & hugs,
