Hi there, I am reaching out to say hi and I hope there is someone that can talk to me. My husband will be sentenced on October 27th. He plead guilty to receipt of child porn. He's facing 60 months minimum. I am trying to be strong for him but when I'm alone I break down. I wish there was a support group for spouses of sex offenders but I haven't been able to find one locally. I live in St. Louis, MO. I feel so alone. If anyone lives in or near the St. Louis area and is going through a similar situation I would love to hear from you.
My story is similar to yours. We are awaiting to get a sentencing date. My husband also plead guilty to possession of child porn. Have no idea what to expect at sentencing. He could come home or he could go to prison. It depends on the judge. He’s been in since March. My biggest worry is him registering as a sex offender. I’m
assuming he’ll have to. It causes me huge anxiety. What will neighbors think when they find out? I hate the unknown.
My husband was arrested about 3 months ago for child porn charges. With the initial charges I think he was looking at probation but it sends the investigation has turned up more evidence and now I think there's a real chance of him facing prison time. I agree this is about the loneliest I've ever felt. We're not allowed to grieve the loss of our spouses and no one really wants to help. I can't even find a counselor/ therapist (I seriously can't even pay someone to help me). I'm so sorry you're going though this. I guess it's ok to take care of yourself first though and not worry about being strong for him.
It’s comforting having other people who can relate to my situation. My husband was sentenced to the mandatory minimum which was 60 months. But with time served and a program he is doing while he is in there he will probably only have to serve somewhere around 2 and a half years turn will have to go to a halfway house afterwards. Which still feels like an eternity away but we are thankful it’s not the full 5 years. He went in December 15th 2020.
I joined a prison wife Facebook group that has been so helpful and makes me feel less alone. I can’t talk about this stuff with anyone in my real life because no one understands how I feel. It truly is a grieving process and one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. If anyone is interested in joining the group feel free to send me a PM and I can get you the info. It’s a private group so your friends can’t see what you post in there.
My husband was arrested on August 5th for child porn charges. Search of the house, front page of the paper, everyone asking questions and nosey people I hardly even know wanting to know everything. Thankfully I had no kids at home, mine are grown. I had to look at pictures I would never wish anyone else to see to possibly identify any children but didnt recognize any of them. He’s waiting for his preliminary trial. It’s all just a big nightmare to me. He is probably going to take a plea bargain but the court system takes forever. He is expecting the minimum of 4 years but max is 20. I told him to expect the unexpected. I just hope they don’t find anything more on his phone or the internet router. He swears to me there’s not anything else. It’s a small town and most of my friends expect me to hate him, but I can’t. I would appreciate any words of advice. I’m just now at the point I don’t want to walk out in front of a train. His family has already shown up unexpectedly here wanting to collect his things. I guess they assumed I was going to leave him. Everyone wants a phone call from him but no one wants to pay for them. I’m just at a loss for words most of the time.
That being said, I hope everyone has a great Monday tomorrow. I look forward to getting to know you all.
the long round
I'm sorry your going through this I found this group when my husband got arrested back in March of this year I'm in California you can private message me if you'd like
Hello,
My husband was convicted and is nearing the end of an almost three year sentence. His side of the family (except for mom, step dad, and dad) have turned their backs on us (we have been married 15 years). I am thankful my family is supportive of me staying and haven't turned their backs on me...I live four hours from them and live in the same state as his side of the family.
I feel like I am on an island. I am so relieved to find out that there are others in a similar situation wanting to stay with their mates. I love my husband dearly and we are best friends.
This is honestly the hardest situation I have been in to date.
Ladies, have any of you heard of SANON. this is a support group for partners/family members of Sex Addicts and there are certain focus groups that are specific to those sex addicts that have been involved in criminal behaviour (i.e. child pornography, voyeurism etc). I have found these groups incredibly helpful and they are on zoom so you can attend from anywhere, there are meetings all over the world and at various times of the day. I belong to two groups - Wednesday evening (7pm EST) and Saturday morning (10:00 EST) these groups focus on sexual offences and it is a great support system for spouses/partners/parents/family etc that have affected by another persons sexual behaviours. I think they have saved my life. I'm putting the contact information for the world service organization here if anyone is interested.

I don't live in that area, but I'm going through a similar scenario. This is a lonely long journey that we didn't ever plan to be on. Hope for peace and healing.
