I'm so sorry. I can understand to a point. My fiancé is a RSO as well and everyday I worry about people finding out. Not because I am embarrassed of him but because people judge. They don't care about facts or situations. They judge and they are cruel. I wish I could be of more help, but I also know there are very few words of comfort when going through this. Like someone else said, all you can really do is take it one day at a time and deal with situations as they occur. You find people you know you can trust and confide in them. We have a few people who know, the majority doesn't. I found this site and I am so glad I did because it really does help to connect with people who are going through the exact same thing, or something similar and can understand.

I feel so bad for you and I have met a lot of moms going though this while visiting my loved one. They pray, some take anti-anxiety medicine to help them. One thing you will find, there are many of us out there. I've met some wonderful women who never thought it would happen to their child. There are very young men just out of high school (ridiculous); an actor, pilot, computer programmer, truck driver, teacher, etc. and all their lives have changed forever. But there is always a way to go with their lives when they get out. The best thing if possible is to help them start a business working behind the scenes or web based programming. Hopefully the registering will become a thing of the past, if not we should push for all felons to be on the registry. There would be such paperwork, there would quit all of this.

My son just turned 30 years old. He was on a P2P sharing website. He was looking at porn but not for CP. On files he downloaded contained CP. He took a plea bargain because we live in FL which is 1 of the worst states to be convicted as a SO. The state wanted to to put him in prison for 40 years but because he helps take care of me because I have brain cancer and ovarian cancer they gave him 10 years probation with GPS monitoring. He never searched for under age porn. He can no longer live in my condo. He has to sleep in my Jeep on the side of the road. It breaks my heart. His probation officer is very abusive and makes his life hell. It has only been a month since he got put on probation. I know how you are feeling. I am not ashamed of my son because he never touched or hurt any minor child. It is all a money scam by the states. Its all about revenue for states.
If you can when your son is released give him the biggest hug you can and let him know you love and believe in him. I struggle because I am working long hours trying to get enough money to try and afford a place that my son and I can live. If you can try to sell on Amazon or Ebay so your son can earn money. Amazon is better because Ebay is not good like it use to be. Look up and research drop shipping companies. My son got to keep his job so that part is good. I still freak out that my son had to register as a SO. Stay out of FL because they make it rough on RSO here. Message me anytime.

Sorry to hear about your son. My husband has served 4 years Federal time for possession of child porn. He lost of all of his friends, everyone of them has disappeared. I am not one for hiding from the truth however I would suggest limit the people with whom you share everything as people are closed minded and often outright cruel. I learned very quickly people hear only the worst when an SO is involved. No matter what the charges are or were people here need to register and instantly think child molester: when in fact most online offenders never EVER interact with minors in person. We are in PA there is a non-profit here "My Brothers Keeper" They specifically work with felons and job placement. From what I have seen even for them SO's have a hard time being placed. If at all possible help your son to start a home based business or find some type of remote employment. I also know the Salvation Army works a good bit with addict employment placement, I am not sure if they would treat an SO offence as an addiction offense but it might be worth looking into.
