Sex Offender in My Life Community Group
This is a NONJUDGEMENTAL group for people who have a registered sex offender in their life. Whether you support this person, are angry, hurt, scared or have accepted the situation, we are here for you. This group is for the day to day trials and tribulations of living with a RSO in their family or having one as a friend. FORGIVENESS DOES NOT MEAN FORGETTING!
Wife of convicted SO. Same crime as your brother. We've been married for almost 13 years, three beautiful children. They are NOT victims of his crime, other than having their dad incarcerated.
He has been in prison for a little over 2 years, and he will be released in (yikes!!) 60 days!!! I can barely believe it! We made it! He will be on probation for two years, so we won't be living together. But it's certainly better than behind bars!
I want to offer my support and hugs. It's a terrifying and unfair road for the families. The worst part is the undeserved isolation that we feel.
When my husband was arrested, apart from being completely and totally blindsided by his crime, I experienced a level of fear and humiliation that no one in my life could ever understand.
The police told me to hold my head up high; that I had nothing to be ashamed of. But when you love someone who is arrested for a sex crime, society has a sick way of condemning you right along with that person.
I hope that you are doing better now. Feel free to email me any time. The first days and weeks are the hardest. But you WILL settle into a new "normal".
