Scleroderma is a rare, chronic disease characterized by excessive deposits of collagen. Scleroderma affects the skin, and in more serious cases it can affect the blood vessels and internal organs. The most evident symptom is the hardening of the skin and associated scarring.
Hi All, I have both Morphea Scleroderma and RA. I am simply seeking ways to deal. I noticed that my scleroderma rash flares up more when I am going through my menstral cycle, does anyone have that issue? My hands burn during that time as well. How do you deal? With the flare ups with Scleroderma my RA tends to flare at the same time. UGH!
Do you know your autoantibodies? If you know your autoantibody, then you can know what to expect as disease moves forward. I have limited Scleroderma with Dermatomyositis. When I flare, my entire body is also affected. Heart, kidneys, liver & lung along with severe muscle weakness in the arms & legs. I cope with prayer and medication. Do talk with your doctor on ways to feel better during flares. I must raise my medications during flares and that helps in the short term. I would think for the burning hand issue to find something cold that you could wrap your hands in for a short time. I use an ice pack for my head when I get migraines and that helps some with the ache.
Talk with some of the people in the RA site, since they might have good ideas for joint issues. Best Wishes.
