Nobody's Hero by Rush.
OK here i go:
I knew he was different in his sexuality
I went to his parties as a straight minority
It never seemed a threat to my masculinity
He only introduced me to a wider reality
As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that he was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
But he's nobody's hero
Saves a drowning child
Cures a wasting disease
Hero...lands the crippled airplane
Solves great mysteries
Hero...not the handsome actor
Who plays a hero's role
Hero...not the glamour girl
Who'd love to sell her soul
If anybody's buying
Nobody's hero
I didn't know the girl, but I knew her family
All their lives were shattered in a nightmare of brutality
They try to carry on, try to bear the agony
Try to hold some faith in the goodness of humanity
As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that she was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
But she's nobody's hero
Is the voice of reason against the howling mob
Hero...is the pride of purpose
In the unrewarding job
Hero...not the champion player
Who plays the perfect game
Hero...not the glamour boy
Who loves to sell his name
Everybody's buying
Nobody's hero
As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that you were gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
But he's nobody's hero
Saves a drowning child
Cures a wasting disease
Hero...lands the crippled airplane
Solves great mysteries
Hero...not the handsome actor
Who plays a hero's role
Hero...not the glamour girl
Who'd love to sell her soul
If anybody's buying
Nobody's hero
Hero
Not very positive, just how i feel tonight.
GIANT HUG'S TO YOU ALL
Never thought I'd see the day they made it to the Hall of Fame, but there they were in 2013 ! Also, nice to see how Rolling Stone magazine poo-poo'd them from their beginning until about 2010 and finally became more favorable to them in 2010. Did you know the publisher, Jann Wener basically have veto power over any of the inductees. I feel he was the reason they weren't in there for a long time.
I've seen them in concert about 5 or 6 times. Saw them at United Center do the entire SIDE ONE of 2112. Saw them 2013 with my son. Great times
I like Trees, I feel that & Xanadu are the only really good songs on Hemispheres. Love the album that "Nobody's Hero" is on Counterparts. When Geddy Lee introduces that song, he says, "this is a song that means a lot to us!"
Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures & Suburbs was a great trifecta of albums (1980, '81 & '82)
Just like Presto, Roll the Bones and Counterparts was a great trifecta of albums nearly a decade later (1989, 91 & 93)
I met & shook hands Geddy Lee in Chicago at Millennium Park about 6, 7 yrs ago.
I contributed to some of the Wikipedia articles on albums & songs in like Presto & "Show Don't Tell"
