There was this show last night beneffiting Los Angeles Youth Network where Slash put on this whole thing. He was onstage playing guitar with different singers including Perry Farrell, Ozzy, and Billy Idol. Duff and Steven Adler even were up there - 3/5 of original GNR! They did "Paradise City" That was cool. He is such a talented guitarist. I hadn't seen him live since he played small venues in '86. I remember once my friend gave him and someone else a ride somewhere, so I sat next to him when I was 15 or 16 in the car. It was so fun to see him play up close way back then.
At one point last night he was being escorted into the lobby and I turned a corner, not knowing it, and I came face to face with him! It was a neat moment. It was exciting. I did meet him in the past in around 97-98 at a club where I worked - he is a very nice guy. When I worked in clubs I had a reason to meet celebrities / rock stars who'd come in. Normally out I don't approach them. That's the city of Angels for you! It was exciting!
I happen to be reading his biography and I'm loving it.
They did a lot of different tunes last night- some Guns N Roses "Out ta get me", Billy Idol "Rebel Yell", Janes Addiction "Jane says" and "Coming down the mountain", a lot of Led Zeppelin "Whole lotta love", "Tangerine", some Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple "Space Truckin". It was cool and I danced a lot. I'm so glad I got to go I heard it on the radio last week. What I was impressed by was how awesome of a guitarist he is and how much he sounded like the original.
Anyway thought I'd share. I am really lucky I got to go.

He was on Celebrity Rehab (C-Hab) last season, and I was really pulling for him to stay sober. Did he look okay, or did he look like he was strung out? I sure hope he stays clean, what a talent!!
I sure wish I had been at that concert. Lucky girl!!!
Slash IS cool! Also love Duff, Irby, and Steven. Steven and Slash go way back to jr high/middle school.
Slash is really Saul Hudson, he got his name because he would fly by people and his nickname became Slash.
His mom used to date David Bowie!!
His dad is English!
