I mentioned a while ago that i had been speaking to a journalist about my story in regards to an article on rape myths what I said was part of a bigger artitcle that they wrote and it was published this wednesday here is how they quoted me
' Five years ago Amy* 29 was pared on a beach by a stranger she'd got chatting to. Traumatised, she went to a rape centre to be tested for STI's Bu like four out of five rape victims, she decided not to report it to the police "I'd read that almost a third of people think that a wman is partially or totally responsible for being raped if she's drunk" she says "I'd been drinking and we'd shared a kiss, so i thought I'd be unlikey to secure a conviction. I'd like to think that if these new directions were in place, more women like me would go to the police"'. (the new dirctions are about exposing rape myths in the court)
That was a really hard interview to give and it was really hard seeing it in print and seeing what they thought was worth publishing of what i'd said but I'm pleased that i gave that interview and i wouldn't of done it if it wasn't for you guys and you are the only people i have told about what I di so i really want to say thank you for that I'm proud of myself and proud of us that i did it!

Wow! I'm so proud of you, too! I lived in silence for way too many years. It was this group that taught me that the only way society is ever going to change is if we shatter the silence and speak out against rape. The world needs more Amy*s getting their quotes into print.

You should be proud! I think it's admirable that you stuck with it to do the interview, and were willing to have your story heard and printed. How did you get connected with the journalist?

Excellent news, I'm really glad the article turned out to be a positive thing. I remember you discussing the interview a few months ago, I'm very glad and relieved that the journalist handled the story responsibly.

Thanks guys! Srarfire I got in touch with the interview after I wrote a letter commenting on an article. Yes Phoenix I think they have gernerally been handling the situation well, I was worried about being misquoted and I have seen things in the media about people that i know that have been completely inaccurate! But I wonder whether this journalist does actually care! In last months edition she did an article where she disclosed and talked about her own self harm which I though was really brave
