Via a RAINN update through Facebook I learned of the following:
‘Private Practice’ Creator Shonda Rhimes, ABC and RAINN (Rape Abuse Incest National Network) broke new ground this week on Thursday, February 2nd’s ‘The Time Has Come’ episode which was written by Jennifer Cecil and directed by Mark Tinker. It depicts a male soldier who returns home from the War on Iraq and is suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He also harbors a tragic secret: He was sexually assaulted during his Active Duty by his male Sergeant.

I was curious as to whether anyone saw this episode. I didn't.
Anyway, it starts out with a couple seeking couple's therapy. The husband came home from war. They talk about his nightmares and how he is having such difficulty since returning from war. The wife says that sex is an issue and he does not want to have sex. My husband saw the beginning and then, the wife says there is this stuff that just sits between you and I. I was like OMG.. this is us and me.
After some probing by the psychiatrist, it is not killing of war but this man's rape. I felt that it was well done.

They did a great job of making it realistic and the fact that it was hard to watch only made that more pronounced. I hope to see more realistic portrayals in the future.
