I was on edge after the mall shooting in Oregon. Then today I get a call from my mother in law asking if my brother's family was ok and I had no clue what she was talking about. Then she filled me in on a school shooting in Connecticut and I turned on the news and was heart broken.
My family is ok. In fact they were in another part of the state. But I've been so incredibly sad today.
Today is also the anniversary of my grandfather's death, it's been several years since he died but he was on my mind and then all these other people that died with the shooting at the school in CT.
I tried to turn the channel and there was news coverage on all the major networks.
I'm thankful that my family is safe but I'm so sad for the families of the people who died.

And watching passionate responses... only some of which are also compassionate has been very challenging for me.
It is my wish that these events would not harden our hearts, but break them wide open for continual nourishment and healing.
