I'm scarce but not unreachable

I'm not on much right now--please don't think I'm disengaged from the community. We've just traveled for over a week to Florida, and I'm about to leave for two weeks of more road trip. I'm going to present at a Native American Sexual Assault conference in Iowa, and then head up into South Dakota to spend time with my friend Ernie (who is Sitting Bull's great-grandson) in the Black Hills. Then it's up to the Tetons/Yellowstone, over the Beartooth Pass into Montana, and over to a couple of different Indian reservations. I'll be spending time among the Chippewa and Crow, doing photo shoots for artwork. Then I race back down to Oklahoma where I've been asked to run four sweats for an Indian conference in Stillwater at Saints Grove!

I'm always available by email, of course. Please stay in touch! I'll try to create new journals here with tons of exciting photos!

Yes, Ernie is a good man. He had come from a rough life of substance abuse and homelessness (with PTSD), and upon being named as the spokesman for Sitting Bull's family he began to clean himself up, go to sweatlodges, become a sun dancer, and was able to give up all addictions in one instant without a single relapse. Today he's a jolly, gentle, kind-hearted soul. Here's a 5-minute video of him telling his story:

Thanks for linking the video about Ernie and his quest to bring Sitting Bull's story to people. It seems like Ernie got his own voice back in the process, too. Beautiful. Hat's off to him.

Your article is simply amazing to me. So much in there to think about and relate to. I feel like you're reading so many us like open books. It's both scary and a relief. Thank you for your continued work for all of us.
