my boyfriend and I have been dating for almost a year but I don't feel like he supports me. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and often feel nothing or just have panic attacks. He interprets them as just me blowing things out of proportion. I try telling him how I feel and we just get into fights where he often turns things around on me and I cry trying to explain how I feel or want him to understand me. I love him and I need his support, what can I do?
I completely understand how you are feeling, my boyfriend is the exact same, we've been dating around the same amount of time as you and your boyfriend. I have Juvenile Arthritis so I often can't do the same as everyone else, on top of that I too have Depression and anxiety. From experience if hes making you feel that crap about yourself and he's not acknowledging that he has hurt you by being so insensitive it's time to move on, because no one should have the right to make you feel as though you don't matter. Remember the whole basis of a relationship is to support each other. I know you may not want to give up on the relationship and be alone, that was my fear too, if you think that you want to work things out I would suggest printing off some info sheets on Depression and Anxiety, make him read them and just hope that he understands. I did this with my boyfriend as a last resort to save what we had, and surprisingly enough it did help, things wont change straight away but it may help him recognize what he has been doing wrong, and how to fix it. If you don't mind me asking, are you both young? I'm 14 and my boyfriend is 13, so I do know how age can affect how well a relationship works, the younger you are, the more you have no idea what the hell you are doing:D (making it more complicated and stressful)
