Recovering from Chronic Lyme disease Community Group
I'm in the final stages of recovering from Chronic Lyme Disease. I have improved so much but still in the process. I am now dealing with trying to rebuild a normal life again and focus on work and gaining friendships. I want this to be a place where you can ask me anything and I can tell you about what has worked for me during this long process.
Goodmorning, I am new to the site, and I was diagnosed with lyme, babesia, bartonella and myco pneumo in Feb.2017. I am 43 years old.My symptoms began a year ago September, with back pain and knee pain. The ortho said it was some herniated discs and pinched nerves from lifting weights at the gym. I actually believed him until my arms, feet and hands started to go numb and weak. In November, the severe neck and shoulder pain began, than I knew it was not wear and tear. My health declined very quickly after that. I had everyday, all day, left ear and jaw pain, the doctor said it was viral. I had high blood pressure, rapid heart beat (sometimes I thought I was going to have a heart attack), insomnia, severe nausea, headaches, diarrhea. The brain fog was ridiculous, I could not absorb information from one minute to the next. My legs and hips would give out. Depression hit and I cried everyday all day, the exhaustion was horrid. I actually had to stay strong for my daughter, and I tried to be fake around her, but she knew I was in pain. I went to every doctor in creation, they all said I was a healthy woman, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! I had full body MRI, brain scan, blood tests up tp wazoo, numbers were off, there was no MS, no cancer, no parkinsons, no polymyositis (I also had a thigh muscle biopsy, which was negative for muscle disease) Until finally, they checked for lyme disease. The lyme bands showed up gradually ( i must have had 10 lyme titers done, which I pushed for, not the doctors). The pain was unbelievable, and all of this happened in a matter of 4 months!! If I did not have my daughter, I probably would have jumped a long time ago, sad to say. I finally went to 3 LLMD's, until I found the one in Jackson, NJ, who put me on a scheduled paleo diet, antibiotics, vitamins and supplements. After 2-3 weeks, my leg was feelling better and I could actually walk. The headaches went away and I started to get my strength back ( I went back to the gym after a year, which had made me happy, since my muscles have gotten mushy and my weight went from a healthy 142 pounds to 125 pound cripple) The treatment was working for 3 months, but now I am going backwards, the muscle pain and weakness returned, so the llmd changed the antibiotic combo. HOPEFULLY IT WORKS!! I am also on heart meds. I do not recall a tick bite, but when I look back about 10 years ago, I do remember an eye infection when I had gone to Greece, the infection spread to the side of my face, and I was given 10 day antibiotics. Other than that, I have no idea when or where. I feel sad and hopeless, my vision is horrid in one eye, had cataract surgery several years ago, I hallucinate, and the list goes on. I would appreciate some words of widsom. Thank you.
