I wish I had something to share for today. Tomorrow we celebrate our 37th anniversary, and this weekend we are going to spend a night at Dakota Magic Casino, they have a golf course right there but the doc told her she should not golf because of her injuries from car accident 7 weeks ago. I think her broken rib is nearly healed but doc thinks the carilage around her sternum tore and she has a severe neck strain. She also loves bowling and can't do that either. I hope she gets better so she can enjoy the things she likes. We will try to make the best of the weekend anyway.

Beach-- That is awesome! Have you ever see the King of the Hill episode where they buy a Harley together to reconnect their marriage? It makes me giggle because then the whole time they're fighting over who gets to drive! Thats exactly what would happen in my marriage too :) Hope you're enjoying your time together!

As for us... we're working on getting out together alone more often. We have two young children and we have never had a regular date night or anything that resembles a date night. Since our kids were born, I can probably count on one hand how many "dates" we've had! So, we're making that a priority. Also, we're planning a trip away for just the two of us. We got our passport renewal applications together yesterday actually. We haven't set it all up yet, but we're preparing which is at least a step in the right direction.

Good for you ifeel! We are planning a trip to Arizona and New Mexico for April 2011 and we have had the best time making plans. I think when you focus on making plans together, it projects your marriage into the future and continues to build closeness. Our current short term plan is Friday night...Thai food for dinner. Our 14 year old daughter is off with the cross country team and we are going to go out. I am really looking forward to it.

Iregret...I wish you a meaningful anniversary. They can be painful but they can also be a reaffirmation of the tenacity of two people to continue together even after facing adversity. I could not celebrate mine this year because dday was too close to it - but I feel like when the next one rolls around (May 2011) that I will be in a better place and ready to recognize the tremendous effort and hard work that we put in and to appreciate and enjoy the reward of a different marriage.

we are trying figure out some better ways for communicating and trying to focus on solutions, not blame. its very hard. I am going on my first solo trip in years this weekend(not really solo just sans H).going to my home townfor the first time in 5 years!

In my master bath I have a huge spa tub. Every night after putting the boys to bed we get in and listen to music and talk. In the past we discussed the A alot. Now we just talk about our days and the kids. It is a calm, peaceful, relaxing atmosphere and in doing this we've not only reconnected, but improved our communication ten fold.

We are planning vacation in San Francisco...been there for our honeymoon 23 years ago and the following ten years for a total of 11 times...haven't been back in a while so we thought it was time...we love that place.
Hope our favorite restaurant is still there.

I have never been to San Francisco. I have spent the last couple of years in NM and just recently went to Arizona. I have been to Annaheim for a trade show years ago, but California is on my big list of things to do down the road.

Going to Mexico in a few weeks-- driving from Tucson.
Them Maui in Feb-- to help watch our little granddaughter while parents vacation.
We shall see if the change helps...I hate living in the cold, dark place I am in - so a break to the sun will be nice, even if it doesn't really help our romance much..

My H and I did a half marathon last Feb, 6 months after d-day. We live in CA but did the half marathon in New Orleans. Training for it was difficult, but on Sundays, we would put the 3 yr old in the jogging stroller, and run our long runs with our 9 yr old on a bike and 6 yr old on a scooter. The weekend of the race was a 4 day weekend for us while my parents watched the kids. It was the first time away since our 10th anniversary in 2004. And though the run was tough, we had a great time.

We must be a glutton for punishment because we signed up for another one in Phoenix in January. My H's cousin lives there and the four of us are going to run together.

We are having our "date night" one night a week at least. That is when we eat dinner together in our bedroom, watch a movie and snuggle. It is our time allllll alone! It is when we dedicate ourselves to each other.

As some of you know, I cant get out as easy as most. So this is how we have our night.

More date nights, working on lots of books together and we bought a Wii that we spend time each night playing together after the kids go to bed. I love the boxing. I get to punch him! LOL. We are also making lists each weekend of things we want to do with the kids and accomplish around the house and work through those together. I'm rather jealous of the bath thing. Or maybe I just have bathroom envy. :) We have the tiniest bathroom in our house.
