Rebuilding Marriage After Infidelity Community Group
A community for those who have been through the heartbreak of infidelity and decided to stay with their partner and try to re-build the relationship.
My H and I had a wonderful weekend. After a couple of stressful weeks, some triggers that knocked me down etc, it was really needed. We hadn't been out to eat at a nice place in quite some time. Money issues mostly to blame, and just being busy. So we've had pizza or a run to a local sandwich shop, but nothing beyond that.
My H's birthday was mid August and his mom gave him a card with $60. She wanted us to have a "date night" at a new locally owned place. So, Saturday, he told me he wanted to go there. We ran some errands, he had a trip to Auto Zone because our daughter needed some break lights for her car, and I got ready to go.
After we parked, he got something out of the trunk. (that is why he wanted to drop me off at the door...duh!) So I knew something was up. He got me a really nice card, and a ring. A beautiful gold band, wider at the top and thinner at the underside. I've always wanted a plain gold band, and lately haven't been able to wear my rings because of gaining some weight. My rings are all sized 4 1/2, my hands are really small, but I can't wear them. I hadn't taken the time to have them resized...sort of because I wanted him to take the lead and get me a band. One of my rings is a 10 year anniversary band and I'm hesitant to have it resized, but I think I am going to have to. I also have a solitaire and a "ring wrap", and a mothers ring, so I have 4 that need resizing.
He said he wished he had done it sooner, but the timing just never felt right to him. We were still working through so much, and he didn't want to feel like he had to, or that he was trying to "buy" me. Something I have always said I didn't want him to do. I think his timing was perfect.
So we had a nice dinner...he got me the lobster tail & filet special. We never pay for lobster, but I love it. It was delicious, and we had a great time. Had a couple of drinks, shared a tarimisu, then came home and spent some good time together. He was really emotional, and told me he couldn't believe he almost lost me. It was very touching. He's shown emotion many times, but this was spontaneous...we weren't talking about the A at all.
Last night we really had a "good time". :) All in all a great weekend!

I suggest that we all take a cue from loving and post something about the good times and special moments in our lives. After all, we all know that true rebuilding is more than just the painful times, it's about building on those awesome times and embracing the connection with our spouses.

I wear a band that I bought, I also always wanted a plain band but for work purposes. So I have the opposite of your wants, but I would be very joyful too. Sounds like a great date!
