Rebuilding Marriage After Infidelity Community Group
A community for those who have been through the heartbreak of infidelity and decided to stay with their partner and try to re-build the relationship.
It's been fairly quiet here the last few days. I've been able to log in and make sure nothing needs done, but haven't posted much due to the head colds hubby & I are both fighting. The entire weekend was pretty much spent doing nothing but watching TV. We finally feel some better today, and H went to the gym & I did the laundry & made supper, but we're both wiped out now.
I'm just wondering how the other members are doing. I can understand why some don't post much, but I think we need to focus on some positive threads for those just finding their way on the Rebuilding path.
I can tell you that it is possible to renew & rebuild a marriage that has been torn apart by infidelity. My H and I have been married almost 32 years. His A happened at the 27-28 year mark, during a very difficult time in our home. It was with a co-worker, someone he turned to when he couldn't/wouldn't talk to me. That EA turned physical, and that turned sour when he and she realized how wrong it was. I've known for a little over a year now about the whole thing.
Anyway, I love him, and take my responsability for what happened between us. The forgiveness and work that has come after has been tough, but I wouldn't change my mind at this point. You can get through this, but it takes both of you working at 100% to do that. There are some great books out there, "After the Affair" is one I would highly recommend.
I hope that the threads you read here may help you on your journey. I'm still finding my way as well, on a road that is bumpy and dark at times.

We've been healing and rebuilding from our affairs (we've both been unfaithful) for a year and half now and doing really good. We did counseling for awhile at the beginning but then stopped going. My H said he wasn't getting anything out of it.
I think what has helped us the most is the couple's devotional that we started doing about a year ago. We take turns reading and praying together. This has definitely brought us closer not only to eachother but also to God. You can't go wrong with prayer.
We are currently doing the "Love Dare" challenge and that is going well too. My H even recommended the book to his friend this weekend and told him how much he enjoys the book. WOW!
Although infidelity is just about the worst thing to go through in a marriage, a marriage is so worth fighting for.
