But before the A, wow, it could've gone either way. We always said we'd travel the world and buy stuff but now I'm not sure if it would have been easier to walk away when the midlife crisis hit.
When I married my H we were dirt poor. We had nothing and he worked his ass of to get to the place we are now. I didn't. I stayed home and supported him and raised our four kids. Money and security was never the reason for our connection or else I wouldn't have married him in the first place.
Ironically the Mega Million game in Illinois was up to like 344 million this past weekend. Don't know if anyone won. If not, maybe I'll play and I can let you know firsthand when I win :-)
Since I buy the lottery tickets, technically I would be the winner. We have separate bank accounts and we split bills; now he pays most of the bills, but still it is separate money. So the ticket would have been purchased with my money. I would consider it our win though. I would hope that it would just make things a little easier for us. The only thing we ever really fought about before the affair was money, so being able to live comfortably would be great.
If we were still in the situation that we are in...I think having that money would make me feel a little more confident. I would be able to put my foot down and not worry quite so much about how I would get by without him financially. I wouldn't have to worry about giving up my house and making my kids move. Don't get me wrong, I am not still here because he supports me. If need be I will get by on my own or with help from family. But it would sure make it easier to know I had that to fall back on.
If the real question is, Do I think he would stay with me for the money? The answer would be "no". The money wouldn't make him be with me if he didn't want to. He would go.
Would the money make things easier for us to stay together as a couple as we try to rebuild? Absolutely!
Financially, our household took a major hit when H was laid off. We had a brand new baby, and we all know how life is... there's always something to pay for. it's been a tough couple of years for us, a lot of sacrificing, but we've made the best of what we have, and i think it's made our healing process stronger - we're focussed on it big-time, because there's nothing distracting us - focussing on repairing what we love, each other! that's just my opinion and there are reason why I'm afraid of money..... but I see how things would be nice... we could move far, far away... stuff like that is appealing to me...
