I am so depressed this morning....what a night I told cs that I didnt want valentines this year....It didnt exist....no flowers, cards candy nothing. And I really meant it. well he called me at lunch to talk and said I know you said no flowers, cards or candy but I got you something that you can use just to let you know I was thinking of you. So the rest of the afternoon I was like what did I say I needed lately and the only thing I could come up with is a Keurig coffee maker. His parents got one for christmas and I am in love with it. So all day long I wonder and when I get home he says here this is something little to let you know I was thinking of you. It was a box of Cherry limeade drink mix.....REALLY!!!!!!
Yes i do use a lot of it but was that worth announcing and making me wonder. he said he doesnt know why I am upset and I told him that if that was what he had to just bring it home not tell me he had something for me and then bring something like that home. Am I overreacting? It was Valentines Day so I guess I expected more or would have been happy with nothing at all. I am feeling so low today!

You gotta set the expectation bar really low. You went from zero to keurig in 5.2 seconds. However, if you stayed at zero then the lemonade would have been slightly above the bar. See? So my advice is to expect little on these days and then anything will seem good. I never verbalized. That I wanted nothing but didn't talk about the day. I fear that he would have listened to my words and done nothing.
I would still talk to him that you were hoping for a unexpected grander gesture to show how much you mean and tha the drink mix just wasn't grand enough. Let him know it was hurtful.
