Hi all -
I'm new to the group and I'm hoping I can find some answers to help calm my nerves.
I recently had a Pulmonary Function Test done because I have had a history of low pulse-ox before and after surgeries. My doctor had me get this test done to rule out the possibilityof lung problems. During my PFT, my pulse ox was normal, along with normal spirometry, but my test results stated "Extremely decreased DLCO which can be seen in Interstitial Lung Disease and/ or Pulmonary Vascular Disease". I'm only in my early 40's and I don't smoke and never have smoked. I'm kind of freaking out here and not sure what to think. I'm currently waiting to hear from my doctor as to when I will be referred to a pulmonogist. Any ideas on what they may do to see why I have extremely low DLCO? Ugh...

It's a good sign your PFT's are otherwise normal.
Diagnosis of ILD's or lung abnormalities in general can be complex.
You're on the right track to consult a pulmonologist.
With any pulmonary function test, good coaching prior to and during the test is essential.
