Dad dxd with IPF, lungs functioning at 50%

Hi,


I don't know what imI feeling right now. My dad got dxd with IPF last week, it seems the disease has progressed for quite some time now.


I truly have not been able to care as much about his symptoms for last 3 years as I work full time, have a hyperactive 2 year old and commute long hours.


Now, I've been told by the doctor that this disease is 100% fatal, he might live for another 3 years max and to make memories with him. I'm only 38 and already lost my mom in 2010. The thought of losing the ability to come home to a parent is killing me. I'm unable to put up a brave face and go on with my life. 


I know my child needs me to be a happy mother, but it's just so difficult!! There is a probable timeline and it seems impossible to go through all of this. My husband gets mad when I cry, saying if nothing is happening as of now, then why am I mourning? He's a good man, but always avoids grief or related topics.


Grief is not new to me, but my mom died suddenly so this is taking a toll on me. Please help me!

I have the same disease as your father. It is very difficult for everyone in my family. If you are limited in visiting him why not phone, or Skype him. Then visit him when you can. If you Skype or face time with your dad, your child could also see and hear him. I am so sorry for your situation, it is very difficult but not impossible.

I believe in prayer. I ask for strength, patience, and love. My husband and children were very upset. I was diagnosed 1 year ago. I have asked my husband to pray for help with the anxiety. If you believe there is a God and Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He will give you peace. The Bible says when we cry out to Him he will hear us and help us. We have found much comfort in this. He has helped us with the anxiety and fear.

My heart goes out to you, I will pray for you and your family. I hope I have not offended you in any way, it was never my intent.
