When I was 24 I lived with my boyfriend at the time. He wasn't a very good boyfriend, in fact he was terrible, but I liked his house. Despite it being haunted af, and in a really low lying wet area, it still felt like my house and allowed me to satisfy some of the nesting urges I was having at the time.

Not long after I moved in, I was sitting on the couch after work watching Netflix and snacking. I worked second and he worked third. So he was at work. Suddenly I heard shuffling footsteps coming up the hallway, then they stopped. I didn't see anyone but in my mind's eye got the sense of an old man in slippers and sweatpants, with a v neck sweater over a button up shirt, and very disheveled hair similar to pictures I've seen of Albert Einstein.

I asked out loud who he was and what he wanted. He said his name was Martin, then asked if I was about done making noise and when was I going to bed?

I had been watching a comedy and laughing alot so I apologized and said I would keep it down and go to bed soon. He mumbled "mmm hmm" then I heard the shuffling going back down the hall. I followed quietly but didn't see anything. Then I heard my ex's son's bedroom door close rather loudly...but the door was already shut! I heard it shut but it hadn't been open! It was so weird, but I never felt anything threatening from Martin. He just lived there in that room like a roommate.

My ex didn't have full custody of his son, so he only had him for a few hours a day, never overnight. That bedroom didn't get used much. However, one day while my ex was asleep and the boy was there, I suggested we go play in his room. He was 4 and played pee wee soccer. The bedroom was a huge long room with closets at both ends, so I thought maybe we could play soccer. When we got in there, he said we couldn't be in there because there was a boy in there. I asked him what? He said, "I can't sleep in here or play in here because there is a big boy in here. It's his room."

I said no honey, this is your room. I wanted to make sure he wasn't thinking of his dad's ex's kids who also used to live there before I moved in. But he said it was a "big boy" that he was old.

I had to tell his dad. My ex told me his kid talked about there being someone in that room all the time and related several episodes when the kid used to sleep in there and woke him up screaming. His mom said the same thing.

I told my ex what the ghost I saw looked like and he said it had to have been the old man they bought the house from, that he stayed mostly in that room. It was his Nascar entertainment room. We never were able to find out if that guy died tho. That would have validated it more.

Later on when things got so so much worse there, Martin still staid there in that room, hiding from the things that went on.
