Pres Trump Talk Community Group
"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." - Abraham Lincoln

Clearly everyone here's a bit fed up with talking about Trump since it's been a while since anyone has posted here despite there being many things we could rail about in the last couple of months, but I thought maybe we should talk about something slightly deviating from him although still having to do with him to some degree...
Namely that we now know the full Democratic ticket is Joe Biden for President and Kamala Harris for Vice President going up against Trump and, presumably still Mike Pence, although people now wonder if Trump might dump Pence and replace him with Nicki Haley in response to Biden picking Harris (I mean, it would seem politically smart in some ways to do that, but given how Trump's knee-jerk reaction to the Harris announcement was to dub her a "nasty woman" ala Hillary Clinton, I don't think Trump would ever go for someone like Haley as his VP - certainly such a move would not be seen as his decision but rather a bunch of other people, advisors and such, telling him he needs to make sure a drastic change in order to try to win again because he'd never pull that on his own seeing how he hates women). And then of course there is human distraction Kanye West also running in some states, which by all accounts is a blatantly obvious ethics nightmare purposely being launched by the GOP to try to siphon Black voters away from Biden in key states (literally Republican lawyers have been seen getting the paperwork in for Kanye to get on the ballot, not people working for Kanye). Add to that mix the fact that we know Russia is trying its best to meddle again and while China and Iran and some other countries haven't physically tried to put their proverbial thumb on the scales here like Russia has, they have weighed in on who they would prefer to see win...
So what are we thinking?
Do you feel like a Biden-Harris ticket is as close to a sure-thing as the Dems could possibly produce right now? How do you feel about the prospect of having our first female VP - do you feel like Harris was the best choice Biden could pick or are you disappointed he didn't go with someone else?
Do you feel like nothing can stop the juggernaut that is Trump (no matter who his VP choice is), especially if he continues to use the government to directly manipulate the outcome (like by slowing the mail down) or lets Russia or some other Russian-influenced country do something to try to affect the election?
And do you think Kanye will actually garner any votes and play spoiler in any way or are people too wise to vote for a "joke" or to throw away their vote on a non-major party candidate in this day and age? Do you think he still will appeal to the segment of the population the GOP thought he would pull away fom Biden, or do you think the addition of Harris to the Democratic ticket means those potential Kanye voters wind up voting for Biden after all?
And what percentage of people do you think will just not vote this year, despite it being a very important election, claiming "it doesn't matter, they're all the same" or "I'm just not motivated to support any of these candidates"?
Where do you fall at this point (assuming you want to share that)? I mean I assume no one here is going to say they're going to vote for Trump seeing what the basis of the group is (barring some weird random comments from Trump-loving non-group members being left here, which has happened before), but are you solidly behind Biden or are you thinking you might vote for Kanye if he's on the ballot in your state or are you thinking of going for a write-in candidate or another minor party candidate or no one at all? Or is it just too soon for you to say for sure who is going to get your vote?

I’ve probably watched the sequel to __________________ more than I’ve watched the original.

I like Kamala and I'm glad Biden chose her. She is strong and, God forbid, if Biden did not make it through is presidency I think Kamala could handle it. I also liked some of his other choices but I'm happy with Kamala.
The fact that Trump is already calling her names shows how afraid of her he is. Trump is terrified of women but especially intelligent black women who blasted his staff while they were being questioned for all their criminal acts. He knows that she will make sure that Trump and all his cronies will be investigated once he is out of the White House.
I think we need to take the Kanye thing seriously for the very reason that April Ryan said - because if he does make it on a ballot that is a vote away from Biden and it will throw off the electoral college. I keep picturing the ballots everywhere without his name on it and I keep picturing Biden being sworn into office January 2021. Please join me with this vision!
I'm voting for Biden and feel better doing so now that Kamala is the VP. I like that she is young and is an attorney and many others reasons too. I submitted my application to do mail in voting this year because my state will let everyone vote by mail in 2020 without having a reason for it. I wish every state would do that.
Side note on the "suburban housewife" thing - does Trump think it's the '50s? Who are these "suburban housewives" he speaks of?? It conjures up the image of Donna Reed and June Cleaver, and I'm pretty sure there aren't many women who identify with that image these days.
Trump's first attack on Harris was to dip back into the "nasty woman" well and all I could think was that there are a lot of HIllary supporters digging out their buttons and tees and hats from 2016 when he labelled her the same. Harris was known to be on Biden's short list for weeks and yet once the announcement was made Trump hadn't already crafted a better retort than a recycled one from 2016? Doesn't it basically just prove he just thinks any woman in any position of authority who can challenge him in any way can only be but one thing. I'm kind of shocked that he hasn't resorted to calling them bitches considering how he's never held his tongue from using other similar terms... like did someone in his camp advise him that would be a step too far and instead go with "nasty woman"? Oh and he's latching onto some sort of "birther" style conspiracy theory about her already too. Because of course. Racists are what racists do.
Kanye worries me too. I can only hope that enough people who he might appeal to learn well before they vote that the GOP is behind him and are intentionally helping him run as a spoiler to take votes away from Biden. I can't guarantee that it will keep people from wasting a vote on him if they know what it really means to cast it, but I can hope people learn the truth of the matter first so they know who they are actually voting for if they cast a vote for Kanye. Perhaps it will change their minds on voting for him then. He's somehow polling at 2%, which seems insignificant but they noted how Gary Johnson got 3% in some states and Jill Stein got 1% in some states back in 2016 and those were the same states where Hillary lost the electoral college votes by such narrow margins that had those two candidates not been on the ballot in those states, she might've won if those voters had instead voted for her. The thing about Kanye though is just that unlike those other third party candidates, he seems to align with the GOP in a lot of ways but seems like he would more likely appeal to people who would otherwise vote Dem - at least that is what the GOP is hoping for. The blatant attempts to manipulate and cheat their way to a win this fall is just appalling...
Be aware if you are voting by mail this year that Trump is manipulating the Post Office to such a degree that ballots (particularly in key battleground states) could easily be intentionally delayed or for all we know even misplaced in an effort to curb what he assumes will be a predominantly Democratic block of votes. If you can drop your ballot off at a polling place or official ballot drop-off box in your area, if there is one, you should strongly consider that option. The way things are going with the Post Office, Trump's crony there is going to basically gut it until it doesn't exist anymore just for the sake of trying to keep Trump from being voted out of office. It's disgusting, morally wrong, and blatantly criminal, but nevertheless it is happening in this country.
I hope my state joins the criminal lawsuit brought by Arizona and I hope many many more states join. I also hope the investigation into Dejoy finds his conflict of interests is criminal and they remove him from his position. In the meantime I am picturing many many people in every state marching through all the areas being suppressed and gets them all to file a ballot. Letting them know that their vote counts and is wanted! I have to find out what will be done in my state because I will join that march into those communities. I've never felt the need to join a protest but I feel so strongly that we need many people to go into these communities and collect ballots.
