Has any of you guys suffered from this? OMG, My left arm falls asleep like there is no tomorrow. It happens mainly at night. I cant sleep half the time. Is there something I can do for this. I have heard many women say there feet fall asleep but im not having that problem. It does happen to my right hand too but not as much. Hubby kinda scared me bacause he was like there could be a blockage and it sounded bad to him since it was happening on the left side(heart side). Well any info would so help me!
I have tendonitis and carpal tunnel (not bad enough for surgery or anything) and I have been having issues... My hands don't fall asleep so much, I just have more pain and trouble with my grip. I would think that if you had any type of blockage, you would be having issues all the time, not just at night, but if you're worried, give the doctor a call. Even if it is just CTS, maybe they can tell you how to get some relief. Hope you feel better and can get some sleep soon!!
I had this with my last pregnancy. I know there are some wrist braces you can wear. I never did that. One thing that did help me was stretching. If I held on to something, or grabbed my husbands hand and them had him pull back. It helped relieve the pressure. Good luck. I know its so hard to get sleep anyway.
I've been having my arm fall asleep at night too. I hadn't really thought anything of it before reading this, though. My wrist is sore during the day, so I've just been assuming I was sleeping on my arm wrong or something. Let me know what you find out.
I read in the baby book I have that the further along you get that you may experience pins and needles b/c of the increased blood volume. I say run it by your docs as we Mommas need all the reassurence we can get. But yes I am 36 weeks and it just started- at night when I lay down my hands get all pins and needles and sometimes my legs hurt- not like a cramp but they just have aches and weird pains. I am so scared that I'm like yup here it is blood clot. (CRAZY MINDED ME.) But I just run everything by my docs now- I took my pregs. so lightly now I am completely crazy and check everything (not that you are- just me...if that makes sense.)
I hope otherwise you are feeling well Quin and everything is going good.
My doc says it's pretty normal to have your feet, hands, legs, and arms do that while sleeping the farther you get along in pregnancy. For me this time it started by 8 weeks and would even go up past my belly right to under my boobs so I started sleeping on the couch which has much firmer cushions than our mattress. Now I only get it once in awhile. But it did use to wake me up and was VERY uncomfortable and VERY scary!
Thats carpel tunnel alright! I have been diagnosed with it moderate-sever in my right hand and mild in my left. Try hanging the hand that falls asleep off the side of the bed, like dangling straight down. Thats the only thing that helps me. Or you can run your wrist under some cool water. That seriously sucks and I'm sorry to say, it only gets worse as you swell more and more.
Oh, the cool water helps with the swelling that is going on in your carpel tunnel, which is a passageway in your wrist full of nerves that reach to the tip of your thumb, pointer, second finger, and ring finger. If it is carpel tunnel syndrome, your pinky will not have the pins and needles or numbness.
Sorry so many posts! I keep remembering other info... During the day try to remember to keep your hand an wrist relaxed like your holding an imaginary cup. That's what the doc told me anyway, I was supposed to have surgery. When you are falling asleep make sure you don't curl your hand under your face or anything, keep it straight. The braces didn't help me much I couldn't sleep with them on.. I would say ib profin but we can't have that... I may be wrong but I think Tylenol has anti-inflammatory properties so that provides some releif... I hate that u have this too! I hope it doesn't get a bad as mine did, I used to wake up in tears sometimes!
I hope otherwise you are feeling well Quin and everything is going good.
