I have recently had my medication increased do to stress. My clonipin and topamax are now upped. I am having trouble concentrating on things =do to this. my mind keeps wondering and though I am relaxed it is hard to do my job. I am afraid to be alone with my 9 month old child because of this. I have to have someone with me because I feel that I may mess up or forget to do something for her. At night I am afraid that I may sleep to sound and not hear her if she cries. My Dr says that I have to get used to the med and it should take about 2 weeks before I start to be able to see a different and be able to feel normal. what ever that is. I hate this feeling of no control. I have been in this state for so long and just want to be myself. I think back to before the car wreck and wish that I could feel that goo again. I try not to think about the kid that hit me and how he is sitting at home with not a care in the world. I want to be able to enjoy my daughter and not have my stress rube off on her. Please let this med change help.
Have you thought about gettin another opion... I'm just gonna tell ya too much meds are just as bad as not enuff.... All the time the doctors want to increase my meds... my blood test and check ups are great... why increase... they say it will make me feel better. but instead I felt worse...
So I just take half what they want me to take unless they can convince me I really need more... like my thyroid meds....
I quit taking anti-deprressants and muscle relaxers and all kind of meds that were causeing me to be a different person than I wanted to be... which was mostly angry and frustrated all the time...
I had to learn to handle my PTSD on my own, found having some one to talke to helped more than druggs... so get another opion. maybe you need less than more...
talk to your doctor, make him explain how more is better, or talke to another doctor, try therapy.... just suggestions hope you get to feeling more in control... russ
I agree totally with you russ and I had went cold turkey without any medication except for a ativan maby once a week when I was PG do to stress. After I had my baby my body felt totally screwed up again. My PTSD was under control for a long time before I had my daughter but something happened once I had her that the Dr said was traumatic to my body which in turned brought back the symptoms of my PTSD so the medication had to be started all over again. I still go to thearapy but for some reason and I wish I knew why after having my daughter my PTSD is in full effect. It is so hard to explain. Thanks for listening.
hey just haveing a child is like a total wild hair as far as I'm concerned I was there for three of my four children... You ladies go thru a lot of looks like pain and you know for a lack of a better term it don't look like any fun a tall... from a male point of view, cause my ex had my ear and was tryin to yak it off plum while she silently cussed me and made it very plain it was all my fault lol....
I hear the nearest thing a male can experience to child birth is kidney stones... and Oh golly gee I had those three years in a roll..
beside that these days with the way things are raisin a child is scary as hell... uncertain future and job security insurance... if ya get assistance you gotta prove ya an american citizen... it's a mess for sure... so hang in there... lots of groups to get advice from here on DS... Stay in the sunshine.. look at all the good things in life... and don't beat ya self up okay... you can make it... keep talkin and best wishes always Russ
Russ you crack me up! Yes I can tell you from first hand experience child birth is not the funniest thing to go through. I have to say that there is a lot of concerns that my hubby and myself have for her future and we just hope that we can do the best for her as our parents did for us. Thanks for the smile I needed. Have a GREAT DAY.
