Where exactly did you give the shot? Was it the arm?

i get flushing in my legs only. never spreads like you`re talking about, and i`ve never had the stomache issues, i would do as the dr said.

I gave the shot in the back of my right arm.

and fri. is in the stomach

You might have given your shot too far to the back of the arm. I was told that there are a lot of veins that run through that area and you might have hit a vein which caused rapid delivery of the medication. This will not hurt you even though it is a very scary feeling. I am not a nurse but a nurse told me that, and to avoid the flabby wing part of the arm when you give the shot. I am also on Copaxone and I really watch that when I have the shots in the arms that I avoid the back part of the arm. I hope this helps.

The way I judge my shot in the arm is I find the center of my shoulder and give the shot about 2" down and within two to three fingers wide. You should never lift your arm up and reach underneath to give the shot. Glad it went well for you today. Good luck in the future.

i'v given up on the arms. If you don't have much meat there (like me) it seems like a problematic place. I'm so much happier since I've stopped the arms! As far as the flushing, i haven't experienced yet, but when I am alone and give myself the shot i am prepared for it since it has been described as happening frequently and without warning. I make sure i have the phone nearby etc incase I feel like I have to call someone.

I am so glad to have read this. I have been giving them in the back
of my arm (the picture in the book is not very clear) I also do it at
5 AM, right before work and after my shower, so I wonder who I would get a hold of at that hour if something went strange. I always have a hive about 2" after my shot and itches off and on for a few days. Last weekend I told my husband I was pretty frustrated with this whole ordeal every day because it hurts a lot. After a few days of coming to my senses a realized just how lucky we are to have meds available, so I just needed to stop feeling sorry for myself and get to my "happy place" Thanks again for the tips.

The back of my arms were the worst. I got those long welts like you describe --someteims 4 or more inches long. The middle of my arm is too lean so it was goining into the muscle. Now I am rotating between thighs-then stomach-the hips then back to stomach they back to thighs--you get the idea. By the way, if I was alone and I got an "attack" i was going to call 911-- I'm not proud. Shoot, wouldn't i feel stupid if i didn't call someone and I died. ok my attempt at being funny. Good luck.

Well Jan I'm with you my arms are now OUT of the line up! Hey I gotta enough fat the other 3 places...so it works for me. lol lol Well right now I'm very lucky my sister lives with us..so if need be I can get her up. Hi all: I have been on every one of the MS medications. Rebif, avonex, betaseron and copaxone. Had hives, warm sensations in my neck and face and horrible injections site reactions. and then i became immune to the medications because my body built up antibodies to the copaxone and avonex. I am now on tysabri, which is working wonderfully. It's only IV once a month and It's keeping me very stable. It's been 2 years and i have only had one attack. I was having several attacks a year on the other medications. But on the topic of copaxone, my neurologist told me to ice the area before injecting the medication and it really helped. he also told me to take 25mg of benadryl 1 hour before my injection. But you should ask your doctor before that. i would try the ice though, it really helped me. and no, it doesnt mean that your ms is getting worse. hand in there. i'm with you.
