Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Weakness worse before illnesses/colds

I have a question ... I have been sick for 3.5 years and one thing I have noticed is that 2 days before I become obviously sick I feel my muscles start acting strange - my start feeling weak, shakey, my ear/head pressure gets worse and my eye muscles hurt when I move my eyes... I can even feel "lung pain".. they just feel sore when i breath... this happens EVERY Single time I get a cold/cough... it's really strange. .. it takes me a while to recover from it all too afterwards..

Hi bny806, When I feel bad, I always check blood pressure and blood sugar.

Be sure to discuss your symptoms with the doctor.

Hi BNY. I have no idea what us going on here but a thought might be the strain on your immune system when you are ill. No doctor me, just guessing. Autumm

Thank yall!! Do yall ever feel this way? It's really strange.. even my extraocular muscles get sore too.. I guess my immune system is getting ramped up or something.. just didn't know if I was the only unique one with those symptoms! :)

Hi bny806, You can add me to your list. I know exactly what your talking about. The aching muscles comes on very strong. I have no energy at all and I understand the lung pain you feel. That's when I know that I need to really take care of myself. Lots of rest is the answer if possible. It does take time to recover.

this kinda always happens when people get sick. if you think about it when people are in "good health" achiness and fatigue can be one of the first signs of a cold or illness. it may just be worse for us cause we are already not so strong.
just my idea , but yea i def experience this also :)
