I had terrible tremors from the Prednisone. It can also raise your blood sugar so it is good to be tested. Once you start tapering the Prednisone, it should feel much better. On that high level of Prednisone, I think it is pretty important to try to watch your diet closely. It seems to help. Also for sleeping, I take Benedryl every night. It helped a lot when I was on high dose Prednisone.

Hi Trevor. The steriods will keep you awake. I used to take mine at 5am each morning to try and make sure I got some sleep at night. The steriods bring the inflammation down fairly fast so you start to feel better but the muscle weakness takes longer to feel better. It was eight months into treatment before I turned that corner. Your doctor will be checking your labs regularly so will be calling you if your Meds are causing any trouble but have your check for diabetes if only to rule it out. The steriods will make you very hungry so watch that. I gained 28pounds in a year. Best wishes. Autumm

Hi Trevor, High doses of Prednisone will create high blood sugars. I would always need to eat several small meals of leafy green salads on high doses of Prednisone. Avoid potatoes, rice, corn, breads, nuts, oats, because your sugars will sky rocket. My blood sugars returned to normal after tapering off of the high Prednisone doses.

Excellent foods for high doses of Prednisone are: lettuce, tomatoes, green beans, spinach, basically anything green is usually not high in sugar. I would eat a nice hot bowl of spinach for breakfast when I was on high doses of Prednisone.

Trouble sleeping is the high doses of Prednisone too. I just did the best I could in trying to sleep because I did not want to take another pill.

Do see the eye doctor to get a pressure check. High doses of Prednisone will cause high pressure in the eye called Glaucoma. Be careful!
