Polymyositis & Dermatomyositis Support Group
Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.
You might consider seeing a GOOD endocrine doctor who helps people regulate medications like steroids, insulin, hormones etc.. to see if that specialist might be able to help adjust your meds and help you with a taper to 5mg.
Nanny might be correct on talking to the doctor about going back up 1mg to see if you will feel more stable. There are different methods for tapering off. My concern is you have taken Prednisone at 7-10mg dose for so long, you must be watchful for adrenal insufficiency. Drink a lot of water. Watch out for any drops in blood sugar & blood pressures. Talk with the doctor and work closely on the taper. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Best Wishes.
