Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Ticket to Work Program

They offer a "Ticket to work" through the social security program. Apparently, you can turn in your ticket to a company that is paid for you working with them. Has anyone tried this or know more about it? I feel as though I need to be helping to contribute to the household income but do not know how. I need something to make myself feel useful.

In Texas, we have a Texas Workforce Commission that trains people in many basic employment skills for getting a job. Most states have a workforce commission. You might want to look up the workforce commission and go to some classes. The workforce commission can also assist you with job placement. If this does not spark your interest then try working part-time and attend a local community college. The community college offers a lot of skills training for many different types of jobs. Good luck

My understanding is SS Disability is given to those that cannot workat all for a period of time or permanently. If you can work, you will lose your SS Disability.

I did a little more research. What I can get out of it is it is a retraining program to get you working again. When you are working, you will lose your benefits but, they will reinstate your benefits "sooner" if you indeed need disability again in the future.

If your goal is to retrain to get back to work, that might be the ticket but if you are just looking for some side cash but can't see yourself working and giving up your benefits, it sounds like it won't support that goal.

The brochure I recieved on the Ticket to work program in Pennsylvaina has a stipulation that you have to be able to work at least 20 hours a week. If you can do that then I feel it's worthwhile to look into it and see how it would affect your disability benefits.
