I think having a sleep problem on any dosage of prednisone is a problem. Prednisone disrupts electrical signaling in the brain and this may be what is causing you to wake up. You could try a sleeping aid but sleeping pills never worked for me.
I regularly wake up between 2 am till 4 am. I always have some ache or pain which gets in the way of sleeping. I also know it is the electrical signal changes in the brain that keep me from sleeping. I get to do a lot of thinking during my waking hours, and I find the thinking to be productive.
Talk to your doctor about the sleeping problem. I have learned to live with my sleep disruptions. Good Luck!
