Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Sabbatical

I made the big decision today to take a sabbatical for the second semester and focus on getting better. I just need to submit the paperwork. It was sad and yet, it brought me relief. Thanks to all of you for your advice and keep it coming.

Hi Mccourtjs. Good decision! I took off for a couple of weeks when I first was diagnosed with DM. The time off will help you to get stable on the meds. You will be able to make a clear choice about your future decisions in many areas once you adjust to your "new normal."

I know how overwhelming it is to face all that you are dealing with at this time. Your health must come first.
