Hi Autumm, great news!!! Well done - you have worked really hard to get as far as this - I am so pleased for you. I am now on 3mg steroid - getting there hopefully - would like to come of the Plaquenil and MTX but I think it will be a long journey. Hi Amber. Thank you, it's important to post when we are doing well. It is wonderful to know you are down to 3mgs. Getting below 5 msg is an enourmous achievement and one of those 'getting there' markers. It takes time this business but we are all further on than we were when we first met. I am delighted to read your post. From what I have learned along the way the Rheumatologist sees getting off the steriod first, then waiting a couple of visits to see how you are doing and slowly removing other things. First, I want to congratulate the good news you have received from your Rheumatologist. I can say that we all appreciate that the medication Imuran- is working out for you. If you don't mind me asking. Would you be so kind to state the name of your Rheumatologist? Even more, can you also advise if Imuran is the only medication youre currently taken? If not, would you be so kind to share what other medications youre currently taken and please advise the dosage.

In regards to Stem Cell

You had said that your Rheumatologist had said to you that stem cell would be positivity dangerous for those like you with PM.

That very odd and if you dont mind. I would like to know the name of the doctor who told you that.

I rarely use the word fact because most things in life are subjective, but what Im going to say is definitely true and what I have told you, it can be googled. Any doctor in the world knows that bone marrow transplant (one of the ways to extract a stem cells) has been used over 40 years and because of this operation it has saved countless of lives (cancer, autoimmune diseases). However, many people do not know that Bone Marrow Transplant is Stem Cells! I am pretty confident if you was to advise your doctor of autologous stem cells- which are derived from the individual bone marrow and re-inserted back into the individual. I am very confident your doctor would have given you a different answer.

HSCT (Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) itself is absolutely NOT experimental. It has been performed more than two million times all around the world since 1967 ( I repeat) and is currently performed more than 50,000 times per year as standard treatment for many forms of cancer (FDA Approved). Second, I been studying stem cells since 2006. I was introduce to stem cells by my best friend Joseph. In 2006 when Joseph came back from a football practice - while he was sleeping in his bed- a tree fell through the roof of his parents house. He was paralyze from the waist down. While I visited him in rehab, Joseph and his doctor were discussing stem cells. That was 2006, and I can tell you now that my best friend Joseph can walk and do a little jog.

Autumm, I understand you may have your personal opinion in regards to Stem Cell; however, everything I provided to support or inform others on this site; I have always created a work cited which contains supportive information.

As I have stated, I am happy youre doing well. Please do not take this the wrong way, but the best hospitals in the U.K - as of 2015 - is the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. That hospital is ranked 67 in best hospitals in the world; the first seven best hospitals in the world are here in the U.S. In no way am I saying U.S is better than the U.K. I am saying when it comes to a doctors opinion for me- I would rather go with one of top doctors here in the U.S. In which I did (John Hopkins Dr.Mammen) and he not only supported my decision but recommend anyone who is suffering from refractory polymyositis and has been selected as a candidate should undergo HSCT. But please people, do your own research. Dont just believe what I tell you. I provide you information so that you can read or evaluate yourself (Works Cited). If one doctor tell you one thing, find another to see if theyre in agreement. That what I did. Remember the bible says I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. 20For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.
