Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

My doctor recently prescribed Remuran for sleep issues related to prednisone and anxiety. I took 7.5 mg last night and felt groggy this morning. Any comments on the drug, its use, side effects, benefits etc.
All comments will be appreciated.

Hi Mccourtjs, The website www.Drugs.Com is helpful for reading up on side effects, interactions, foods to avoid with certain meds, and it contains a lot of educational information on many drugs. Naturally, the site is not a substitute for discussing questions with a doctor or pharmacist.

I am not familiar with Remuran. You might ask the doctor or pharmacist about a homeopathic sleep aid that does not interact with your meds. A homeopathic sleep aide will often not have that next morning hangover effect. Rx sleep aids in my experience have been annoying.

I haven't tried that sleep aid but I did have to add Benedryl nightly to help me sleep while on Prednisone. Several of my doctors preferred that because it is non-prescription and non-addictive. I take 25 mg at night now. When I was on high dose Prednisone, I took 50 mg nightly.
