Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

I had a stomach ct and abdominal ultrasound done yesterday. They called today with the ultrasound results. The stomach CT is not back yet. I am being referred to a surgeon to see about having my gallbladder removed. It showed "sludge" which they said is either a pre-cursor to stones or is masking stones. I am still having so much pain. This would explain why none of the stomach pills (Protonix, Nexium) are helping the pain too.

Last year I had kidney stones,this year it is gallbladder and DM. Kind of makes me wonder if they arent all connected somehow. ???

I have gallstones as well. I have been having pain in my side for awhile now and am thinking that I might have to look into getting them removed. Let me know how it works out for you.

Oh Angie, if it's not one thing it's another my little Rosanna Danna! Let's just hope they figure this gallbladder thing out quickly and you get some relief.

Angie, I too have gallstones, however have been fortunate enough that they haven't bothered me enough to have them taken out. I feel badly that you're going through such a rough patch, but once it's taken care of you'll feel much better.

Bless your heart, as us Southern gals say...It's always something!...I, too, have gallstones but thankfully, they are still asleep...just waiting for that day....Thoughts and prayers for you, dear Angie...keep us posted..

So maybe it is not the Steroid, and you can put that back on the table for treatment options!!!

So sorry you are suffering, so glad you did not stop, and are getting some investigation so that treatment may be just around the corner.
It is all such a tangled web, and knowing your body and telling the doctors just how you feel is really important. I am glad youa re on the road to some help.

Well guess what! I just had my gallbladder out in May! With so many of us having gallstones...maybe it is all connected. My RD actually said the surgery itself could have triggered the PM, but my ck was elevated before surgery, which we figured was because my gallbladder was inflammed! Goodluck, just know my stomach was 100% better after the surgery. My main symptoms were chest pain ans nausea!

I see the surgeon for a consult next weds. I am in pretty much constant pain from this and it definitely gets aggravated when I eat so as a result I have dropped 8 lbs in 3 weeks.
