Your heart will also rush at times after taking high dose Prednisone. Talk with the doctor about what to do for fast heart.
Absolutely see the eye doctor to check eye pressure while on high doses of Prednisone. Anytime I flare and need to go up on the Prednisone, I have a fast, five minute pressure check at the eye doctor. I developed glaucoma from the Prednisone, which is high eye pressures that must be watched. I have no worries at this time since I only take 5mg Prednisone.
My rheumy prescribed a sleeping pill for me at the beginning of my DM. I did not take the sleep aid. I learned to just tough it out for a few months on the high dose Prednisone. You could look into a homeopathic sleep aid that does not interact with Prednisone and other medications. Talk to the pharmacist on what might work. Finding a medication that does not give the hangover tiredness the next day is hard to find. I would not take a sleep aid, since I taught elementary music. I needed to be wide awake at my job.
The first several months of DM is difficult. Things will get much better as the medication begins to work. You will develop a big sense of patience too. I know others will have some good ideas on what helps with sleeping too. Best Wishes.
I pray you y'all have a blessed night.
Good luck!
