Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Nerve blocking

I am planning to discuss having the sympathic nerve blocking injection tomorow with my pain specialist. This will be my 3rd visit with him, but my prior specialist had discussed it with me on my last visit with her before I had to change insurance and seeing her.

Has anyone had it and did it work and if it did work, how long did you feel the effects of the injections I had it twice for pain in my lower back about 2 or more years ago and it worked, but I have no idea what it causes for my entire legs. I will appeciate all advice. Love you team.

I've never had a nerve block injection except after surgery. I'm sure that is different as they only seemed to last 12-20 hours. It is great after surgery. No pain pills needed!

Hi Brenda, The nerve blocking injection sounds like it might be good. You might want to ask if there is a procedure that would take care of the problem long -term than needing repeated injections too.

I hope that you will soon be free of the pain meds too.
