Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

MTX and cellcept

Does anyone take MTX and cellcept along with prednisone? I would love to hear from people with experience with this combo of meds.

Hi Mccourtjs, I took MTX for two years. I have taken Cellcept for two years. I never took the two meds of MTX and Cellcept at the same time.

You can always ask a pharmacist. A second opinion from another rheumy or GP is also a good idea too. I do not have the expertise to explain how these meds would work together.

It has only been a few days, but I have been feeling better. Not sure if it is a coincidence or the new med.

I took them together for 6 months. Wishful thinking i think. Cellcept takes a full 3 to 4 months on each dose to be effective. Steroids work faster than that... Hope it all works well for you.
