Your jaw has muscles in it and it stands to reason that your jaw muscles might be involved. The aches and pains appear in the quirkiest places. Just be sure you don't have TMJ (transmandibular jaw). Your dentist can probably tell you if you have it. Hugs tew ewe.

Jaw pain is not typically a site for PM/DM muscle involvement. HOWEVER, you just had a more recent post saying you may have IBM? It could be due to that.

My 1st thought too was TMJ. I for one get stressed and am a teeth grinder.

I was thinking TMJ as well. Check it out with your dentist because I thought I had the same thing. Come to find out, It was time to take out my wisdom teeth :-)

I experienced a lot of jaw pain and fatigue - could barely fill myself when it was time to eay because my jaw would get so tired I couldn't chew anymore. This was due to the high doses of solumedrol I was on initially - your pain may be due to how your body is reacting to your course of meds?

I have had jaw pain to in the TMJ muscles. However, it goes away. I seem to notice it most in the morning when the rest of my muscles hurt as well so I do believe it is part of the myositis but you might check with your dentist as well.

I had jaw pain,couldnt chew food, when I went on methotrexate it went away,my strength is returning but I cant over do it because the next day I can feel my muscles

I didn't have jaw "pain" per say...but I know with the meds and your autoimmune system being shut down, it caused me to have swollen glands along with puffy Moon face and neck..which added to the "uncomfortable" feeling in my face and jaw. I also experienced some dysphalgia with my PM (swallowing issues). I know it isn't a common effect to have jaw pain with PM but who knows at this point..I know ALL of my joints have been affected with PM...I would have it checked out though..and determine if it's from Prednisone or the disease..or your jaw itself :) Better to be safe than sorry!

I have a lot of gland swelling/ facial swelling at times... Only occassionally will I have trouble with my jaw and it's during an extremely bad flare or when there is a lot of fluid sitting on my face.
