Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Hi all, just received an insect bite to my left ankle - now swollen up - I am treating it with an antihistamine cream - is it OK to take the antihistamine tablets? Has anyone experienced an insect bite? If so, how did you treat it?

Hi Amberhere, You will need to ask a pharmacist that question. The pharmacists knows what other medications that you take and s/he may know your allergies.

Do call a pharmacist. Tell the pharmacist about your other medications to avoid any interactions.

As trpt1 mentioned, it's best to check with your pharmacist to avoid a possible interaction. In the meantime, put some apple cider vinegar on it, or a paste made out of baking soda and water. Sometimes these things temporarily takes away the sting and/or itch.

Hi Amber. As our friends have already posted, I too always start with the Pharmacust but Nanny is fantastic at 'do no harm' remedies which work. Keep on top of it as it must not develop into an infection. You know how careful we have to be with the Meds. Autumm

Thanks all for your advice, went to my local chemist today and he advised antihistamine tablets - one a day and if not cleared up within 5 days to see doctor. best wishes to all.
