Polymyositis & Dermatomyositis Support Group
Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.
Well this time around, with this flare, I told him I expect help and that he needs to pitch in.
I also share my labs with him and take him to my doctor's appointments so he understands better.
He grumbles a lot. But I am direct and I told him either he helps out or he'll be a single parent.
I learned during my counseling session this summer, we teach others how to treat us. And I allowed this behavior from him. My fault! I feel more empowered these days.
Maybe, you can print out a fact sheet for him so he can better understand how you feel.

I think you have to ask for help. Perhaps help educate them on the disease and have them speak with your doctor too.
I think this is a challenge we all feel. I hope to get some insight from your posting.

I posted this to my facebook, and a bunch of my friends read it, and they said it was the first time they ever began to understand what I was going through. I almost cried the first time I apologetically said I had to leave early from getting together with a few people, and they just said, 'it's ok, gotta save your spoons!'.
it is hard. when my husband first started going to doc appointments with me it almost seemed harder for him and then got better over time. now with our work schedules it's just not possible for him to go to doctor appointments with me which is kind of hard sometimes
