Polymyositis & Dermatomyositis Support Group

Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Hi Everyone. I am going to Turkey next Monday. A four hour flight from London. This time last year I could not plan to walk round the corner. There is life after treatment for Myositis. Autumm

Autumn, I hope you have a great time in Turkey. I am so glad that you are doing well and can travel. I would love to visit Turkey! Be sure to take lots of pictures.

Speaking of bird, one of my neighbor's peacocks is walking around my back porch with his feather's flaring. I put some bird seeds, blackberries, catfood, and bread out for the big bird to eat. The peacock is friendly and beautiful. He likes to fly up and perch on the redwood beams that are on the porch. I am amazed at his royal blue and turquoise coloring.

Hi Autumm...You had mentioned you took out travel insurance..just in case. GREAT idea! If you can think of any more tips as you travel, let us know. 7 months ago I could barely get from my bed to the wheelchair. Now I am back to booking buying trips for our store and walking 2-3 miles three times a week. Just takes a bit for the drugs to work...and lots of PT. Have a fab time! Heidi

Hi Heidi. We started this journey together seven months ago. Wonderful to know you too are doing well. It is good for other people here to know it gets better. I was surprised how easy the travel insurance was to arrange. I thought it would be difficult with Myositis but no. I am insured for a year at very little cost. Onwards and upwards Wonup.
