Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Hi everyone! We are having a lot of storms rolling through Texas lately. I've noticed that every time we are expected to be hit with a big storm, I am more achey. My muscles ache so badly. I've experienced this before, after I twisted my ankle in high school, I cloud always tell when the weather was going to change because it would ache and swell.

I have felt very stiff all day. My neck, arms and legs just feel stuck. I'm resting and medicating and hoping that when the storms get to us and pass, the pain and discomfort will pass with it.

Do any of you notice you hurt or ache more before or during a weather change?

Hi Miranda. I have always been able to predict rain by how my joints feel. One of the Universities over here are researching into this but I can't remember which one, Autumm

Hi Miranda.. yes Texas has been getting pounding on a lot!! Many people I talk to on the phone from Houston snd surrounding areas have been informing me of what they are enduring. We (louisiana) usually have it bad but we have been blessed!

But like you the weather seems to play a huge roll in my situation. When we have storms come through or sometimes when it's extremely humid I feel a lot worse. My family and friends notice my movmeets are worse too.

Hi Miranda, I live in Houston, Tx. We are getting regular rain fall for this time of year. We have experienced great flooding in neighborhoods due to over building. Too much concrete and no place for the water to be absorbed. We have bayous that need to be cleaned out so water flows to the gulf properly. I have lived in Houston since 1967. The SAME places flood every time it rains inside the city limits. The over building in the surrounding suburban areas have not accommodated properly for rain water.

My DM does have issues with weather changes. I will usually experience flare type issues with way too hot or colder seasonal changes. My body prefers heat so colder is usually a problem for me. I have noticed a rise in ALT recently. I see the rheumy next week. I hope I will not need to raise the Cellcept or Prednisone, but that might be a possibility.

I've lived in South Texas my whole life, and I don't remember a time where we have been hit with storm after violent storm, and my body doesn't like it one bit! Early this morning I woke up with such horrible muscle aches. The first thing I did was check the weather radar and of course, we were about to be hit with another line of thunder storms, I had no idea it was supposed to rain again. Maybe I should consider being a weather predictor!

Good way to predict the weather, lil pain light storm heavy pain bad storm. At least we can joke about it.. lol

Trpt I see you mentioning your body prefers heat... I am like that too.. is it like that for the rest of you? ..

My husband and coworker both say how they hate I'm sick but enjoying not freezing with the ac down real low.
