PolarBear, I am so sorry that you are experiencing this nonsense of ridiculous medication costs!

Here is a pharmacy in Calgary, Canada that may be able to help. You will not be able to buy prednisone and certain prescriptions from Canada, but there are a lot of meds that are allowed. You will need to call this pharmacy to see if the shipment of your meds is allowed into the USA:

Canadian drugs are much cheaper. Ask about shipping & tax to figure in with the cost.

You may also try contacting your local pharmacy and doctor to see if they know a way to coordinate a cheaper cost with all the meds combined.

You might also consider asking the doctor to look at all your meds and find one pill of another kind that would do the job of two of your pills. Example: Cymbalta is used for depression but can also work to stop electrical pain conduction problems - one med for two issues.

I have to mail order most my medication and it is always telling me another drug I should take that is cheaper...so I ran this one through. Boy howdy that is an expensive drug! My insurance covers it as a name brand drug. I could get a 3 month supply for $130. I know it all depends on what kind of insurance you have. Does your insurance charge by quantity or dose? It sounds like you are paying per pill. If they pay by dose, it might be worth seeing how your prescription can be written to be more clear. For example, write it out for 180 mg 2 X daily instead of 90 mg as needed. That might help.

I also noticed it was Morphine. I wonder if there is another kind of Morphine you can use. I would absolutely talk to your doctor and explain what your concerns are. There has got to be something else that doesn't break your budget.

I also notice this is not intended for chronic pain management. I would also ask how long your doctor plans to have you take it. It might only be a short term thing.

I pay a small fortune for all my medications monthly. There are some that I have to use a less effective alternative because the name brand either isn't covered by my insurance, they make me take a generic, or they require me to take something else to save money. It is frustrating for sure.

I have gotten hip to the game of discounts for my meds. Go online for which company makes the medication that you are taking, such as for Nucynta, there was a discount card that allowed me to not pay more than $25 each month for 12 months. Nycynta didn't work for me. It was like taking baby aspirin. Opana is so much better. It is also a class 2 drug and only one pharmacy in my county will fill it for me and they have to order it each time I take a RX in. I found one for Lyrica that allow me to pay only $20 per month for 12 months. Otherwise I would have a copay of $57 for a one month supply and $120 for a 90 day supply. I have a discount card for my Opana. I pay $15 for the 10mg and 20mg and $20 for the $30mg for 12 months. Opana is a very expensive drug. Without the discount card I would pay $150 per month copay. The medication costs over $500 per month. I have a discount card for all my medications except Lorsartin. That is a Merck product I believe and they only help people who do not have insurance at all and they require an application such as what is filled out for medicaid. These discounts help a lot. It is the difference between eating or buying meds and now I can do both. God is good.
