Krissytin, Scholarships are based on academic, athletic, and/or musical proficiency categories and financial need. A health problem is never a category for a scholarship. Health problems fall under the area of disabilities.

DM/PM would qualify as a disability. You should look into the disabled students association on your campus to find ways that you can be accommodated in the classroom. You will need a note from the doctor confirming your DM/PM to receive any services. Example, students with learning disabilities bring a note from a neuropsychologist to validate the disability. The LD student then qualifies for untimed testing, special seating, or whatever academic arrangements are needed to ensure success.

Financial issues are always an issue for any student. When I attended The Univ.of Texas in 1983, A 19 hour semester load was $500 per semester. Today, the same 19 hour load is $3500 per semester. The semester load does not include books, food, transportation, and rent. I did not need a computer laptop with an electronic piano keyboard and MIDI interface in 1983 either, so those are additional expenses today.

A Marketing Degree sounds nice. You might consider accounting as a minor. You can sit down at a desk for doing taxes and bookkeeping. I majored in Music Ed. I had NO IDEA that 29 years later I would get DM. If I had life to do over, then I would have majored in accounting so that I could still be working now.

If I was attending college today, I would need a part-time job to handle all the expenses. A job would be your best source of revenue to handle expenses with high inflation.

I am afraid trp is gravely mistaken. There are many disability scholarships available. Maybe not dm/pm exactly but you do have a physical disability which will meet criteria for many scholarships. Search search search. Ask various schools financial advisors and they will have long lists of places you can apply to. Beyond that, of course the internet. You will find them and you WILL get them. I think you are probably looking for grants instead of scholarships (which are usually based on merit). I googled college financial aid for disabled adults and got a whole list of resources. I think the trick is qualifying as "disabled". I'm not sure what their definition is but I would say research and see what you can find. Also, check with the financial aid counselor at your college. They should be able to help you with resources to check out.

I finished my Bachelors degree while in chemotherapy. I am very glad I did it but had to just use student loans for it. I'm not stuck with a substantial student loan payment for the next 100 years (sarcasm but it feels that way).

I work in Marketing. The majority of my work is on the computer or over the phone although there is travel required which is tough. Think about what you want to be doing for work and make sure your educational goals are in line with that. Accounting is a suggestion but isn't the only option for people with mobility issues. I know I would hate accounting!!

Trpt1, YES, there are scholoraships for people with disabilities. I came across one for RA, but that one already is closed for this year.
I do have a full time job with excellent health insurance. I'll be only going to school part time. My job is simple enough, I have time to sit and a lot of free time to do studies.

O my, my work computer went into a system update..so I couldn't finish what I was saying earlier. Anyways I plan to work in marketing advertising and promoting. First ill start with market research and work my way up from there. I plan on staying with my current employer, Disney. They might help with educational reimbursement now that I think about it.
