Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

cognitive function Part 2

Went to neuro today and he said cognitive concerns were not a part of PM and that my concerns were due to medications.

Freelee, I know what you mean about the meds being a concern! I was recently diagnosed with right temporal lobe epilepsy. Epilepsy is NOT part of having DM nor is it a DM overlap disease. The only thing is the problem MUST be related to prednisone and/or MTX. No one in my family has ever had epilepsy. My doctor told me that I do not have leucoencephalopathy of the brain caused by MTX, but I still wonder. I know The Lord is in control so I am not going to worry.

I hope that things can be found and worked out for your brain with the meds. You can always talk to the doctor about changing your meds if you think that will help. I have put in a prayer for you. I hope you will get better soon. Keep us posted.
