Polymyositis & Dermatomyositis Support Group

Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Hi Freelee, I am from Houston, Texas. I like tv shows on Australia with the kangaroos, wallaby's, poisonous snakes, sharks, etc.. you have a beautiful country!

You might contact The Myositis Association website. There may be other Australians on that site. I do think it is helpful to talk with local patients with DM/PM. Best Wishes.

Hi Freelee, nice to meet you. I haven't been on here too long but must say I learn from and lean to my new friends on here.

I am from Houma Louisiana. Trpt didn't realize you were in Houston TX, my neighboring state. I talk to be out there everyday, I work in the oil field.

Hi Jennifer, Most of my neighbors are oil related. There is a big oil slump going on in Houston and it is not good for our economy. I hope things turn around quickly. I like Louisianna. Cajun food is great! Beautiful ecosystem in Louisianna too.

I think we all have a lot in common!

Yep Trpt oil field down too far!! But I can't complain, still have a job that I enjoy and insurance. And I look at it that God is blessing me cause I wouldn't be able to work 50 to 65 hours a week right now anyway, 35 is working out fine sick like I've been. Yeah maybe both being from down south central area explains so of the common denominators.

Freelee have ypu found any myositis aquaitances near you?
Actually trpt is my closest myositis aquaitances. I don't know anybody around here with it. Considering my health care is 2 hours away don't know if I will ever meet others near by. I am the 1st myositis patient at the PT I go to, they been open a long time, 20 plus years

I haven't found anyone on this board recently from Australia. I am a member of the Myositis Association in Australia. We are having a conference in October and am looking forward to that.

The conference here in the states is actually in new orleans louisiana this year.only 45 minutes from me, either Sept or Oct don't remember. I am undetermined if I am going but it's almost like it's meant for me to go.. my 1st year with this and it's so close to home
