Yes, yes, yes. I was diagnosed with PM in 2008 and then with overlapping Lupus and DM in 2010. Right now I am going through the leg problems you described. BTW, it's also my left leg, but both feet. Sitting is painful, but so is standing. And I can only walk a short distance. Even sleeping has become uncomfortable. Have you noticed that it's easier to sit on a hard chair rather than a soft one? I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this as well. I always try working out problems myself, before seeing the doctor. My guess is my problem is lupus-induced, because the lupus can attack nerves and blood vessels. Lupus likes to "travel around" in the body. So I'm considering seeing my doctor, but hoping not to go back on prednisone. Best wishes to you. Let us know how you get along.

Hello McCourtjis and Nanny. I have not had this so it is probably connected to the Lupus part of your illness. I am very sorry to read you are both in pain. Maybe very low dose of prednisone would help or prednisone injection. Autumm

Hi mccourtjs, I have the same pains down the legs, in the back of my arms, in the butt and in my right foot. I do not have DM-Lupus at this point since my Lupus tests keep coming back negative. I believe it might be DM/PM Vasculitis which is due to inflammation. My intense pain comes and goes. I sometimes need to use a handicap bar attached to the studs in the wall in my bathroom to help sit & raise up from the toilet since the pain is sharp. I can not believe how when I simply touch my arms, legs, sit or walk, the pain is sharp! I am in my fifth year with DM.

I first had sharp pain symptoms in my body after getting diagnosed with Thunder Clap migraines by the neurologist. I also get the "ice pick" headaches which feels like someone stabbing me in the head! Not fun!

If you google DM/PM Vasculitis and read up on the information then you might see a connection. I am concerned about the rationing of pain medications to law abiding patients. I do not need the pain meds yet. I have read from other patients about needing some serious pain meds for these pain issues.

One more thought that I did not consider... I am pre-diabetic. Peripheral Neuropathy is another consideration with same nerve pains in arms, legs, butt. Watch those blood sugars!

Thank you for your replies. I'm sorry that you too are experiencing these symptoms but ir gar for pre-diabetes and that is not the case. My doctor does give me pain meds but I try not to use them first thing in the morning. I have pain most of the day and can usually manage it. Yesterday morning, it was so bad that it put me on the floor and I nearly passed out and felt like I was going to pass out. I could not get up for awhile. MIne is also in my left leg. Starts in my buttocks, hip, calf, and my foot tingles. I have been wearing a light brace on my calf which helps and I'm on the hunt for compression shorts. Ice, heat, Tylenol etc definitely helps.
