Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Hi all,

I just heard from my doctor's office that all of my bloodwork looks great. My CPK is 61 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked the nurse to ask my doctor if I could decrease my MTX. I had been on .7 (whatever that is in mg...I go to .7 on the syringe ha) for two years, I have been on .5 for one year now. My doc wanted to take our time getting me off of it, but I had heard of people just stopping MTX and being fine? Well I just got a voicemail from the nurse saying that my doctor said I could "go ahead and cut the dose in half, or just stop it."
MUSIC TO MY EARS!!
I want to just stop it!

I called back to verify that information so I can be certain and to ask another question or two, so I'm waiting for a callback now.

Just wanted to celebrate with you guys. I love this community. And if you have any input/advice about stopping MTX let me know! :)

Hi Joyforalifetime, Great News on your DM!!! You can stop MTX cold turkey. MTX does hang around in the body for a long time after it is stopped too.

In remission, monitor blood work periodically, carefully and prayerfully.

thanks everyone!! your love and encouragement makes me tear up!! :) the nurse did call and confirm that I can stop it-so I will!!!! going to be very careful and prayerful and watch for symptoms and watch my bloodwork closely. we are doing lots of celebrating!!!

haha:) today is the first day I won't take it!!! when I decreased my dose a year ago it took me 6 weeks to feel a difference. planning on getting lots of sleep and taking the best care of myself!!
